NDA Tours Major Agricultural Company, Signs MoU

The Ag. Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Development Authority (NDA), Hon. Boniface Gambila, in the company of the chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr Hakeem Wemah, and other staff of the NDA toured the factories and facilities of M. M. AWAL Enterprise in the Tamale Metropolis.

Following an initial visit by the authority early this year, the visit sought to deepen interaction between NDA and the management of M. M. AWAL for an in-depth appreciation of their vision and experience in the agricultural value chain.

M. M. AWAL is a major producer, processor and trader of agricultural produce with the capacity to deliver significant quantities of rice, soybeans, sesame seed, cashew nuts, maize, sorghum, cassava and yam, looking to boost its capacity by engaging potential partners, both local and international.

The company is a major supplier of agricultural produce to the Ghana Buffer Stock Company, ECOWAS Food Security Reserve, among others.

Subsequently, a brief ceremony was held at the premises of NDA for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between M. M. AWAL Enterprise and the authority.

The MoU seeks to leverage NDA’s position as a state development agency mandated to ensure social and economic transformation of the Northern Development Zone and offer relevant support in facilitating financial support to expand the company’s projects and interventions.

The partnership is envisaged to increase the capacity of M. M. AWAL in the agricultural value chain to improve agricultural mechanization and increased job creation.
