The Northern Development Authority (NDA) is one of the three Development Authorities established by an ACT of Parliament (Act 963, 2017) in Ghana to “provide a framework for accelerated economic and social development of the Northern Development Zone and for related matters”. The other two Authorities are the Coastal and Middle-Belt Development Authorities, focusing on the southern and middle belt of the country respectively.

Star Ghana Foundation in partnership with the Northern Development Authority has held a consultative meeting with regional Ministers of Northern Ghana, Planners and some CSOs ahead of the 2021 Northern Ghana Development Summit (NGDS).

The Minister of Finance was presented with a copy of the NDA long-term master plan. The presentation was done by Dr Wemah, Hon. Gambila and the Northern Regional Minister, Hon. Shani Zakaria.

H.E. Rajaram expressed confidence that the similarities between India and Ghana hold immense prospects for development cooperation. He cited the example of India’s rural past and how they developed over time as a possible blueprint to guide Ghana to equally achieve sustainable development.

M. M. AWAL is a major producer, processor and trader of agricultural produce with the capacity to deliver significant quantities of rice, soybeans, sesame seed, cashew nuts, maize, sorghum, cassava and yam, looking to boost its capacity by engaging potential partners, both local and international.

The high-level meeting among other notable initiatives, endorsed a decision to institutionalize the NGDS as an annual calendar event to promote dialogue on the acceleration of development in the Northern Ecological Zone of Ghana.
