Bolgatanga, April 13, GNA - All the sixty-three Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) operating in the Northern Savannah Ecological Zone (NSEZ), have been advised to mainstream the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into their 2018 -2021 Medium Term Development Plans (MTDPs).

SADA with support from UNDP’s Inclusive Growth Cluster organized a two-day workshop for representatives of seven out of the thirteen MMDAs in the Upper East Region from 11th-12th April 2017 at the Akayete Hotel in Bolgatanga. The purpose of the workshop was to explore how District Assemblies should prioritize and localize their District Medium Term Development Goals and targets (2017-2020) and align same with the SDGs and the SADA Zone Master plan. The workshop was also to stimulate cross-sectoral collaboration and cross-district planning to break silos and foster integrated planning in the zone.

On April 10th, 2017. The republic of Ghana SADA-China business relations advisor Mr. George Kwabena and agents in Ghana visited Shanghai Huawei headquarter in Shanghai. During this period, CEO of Shanghai Huawei Daniel Lv met with them. In the process of the investigation, Huawei shows their farm, workshops, and technology. To promote Huawei efficient irrigation technology in Ghana, both sides make a in-depth exchange and discussion the related issues.

The South African High commissioner to Ghana, Her Excellency Ms. Lulama Xingwana, visited the zone from Thursday 9th March 2017 to Friday 10th March 2017 at the invitation of SADA and the Northern Regional Coordinating Council (NRCC). The purpose of the tour was the exploration of investment opportunities in the zone that might be of interest to South African Investors. H.E Xingwana focused on opportunities in the following sectors; Agriculture and Agribusiness, Energy, Transportation, and Tourism and Culture.

The Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) as part of its consultation process to seek input for the finalization of the SADA Master Plan has made a presentation to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development. The presentation was to enable the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hon. Hajia Alima Mahama and her team, appreciate the work that SADA has done and to seek the Ministry’s input to enrich the Master Plan.
