In order to create an enabling environment for all-year round commercial agriculture to thrive successfully in the Northern Savannah Ecological Zone (NSEZ), the key role position to be played by irrigation has been given great prominence in the Agricultural Master Plan for the Zone prepared by the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA),noted its Chief Executive Officer ,Charles Abugri

SADA with support from UNDP’s Inclusive Growth Cluster organized a two-day workshop for representatives of seven out of the thirteen MMDAs in the Upper East Region from 11th-12th April 2017 at the Akayete Hotel in Bolgatanga. The purpose of the workshop was to explore how District Assemblies should prioritize and localize their District Medium Term Development Goals and targets (2017-2020) and align same with the SDGs and the SADA Zone Master plan. The workshop was also to stimulate cross-sectoral collaboration and cross-district planning to break silos and foster integrated planning in the zone.

Until recently, the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) was an infamous spectacle of how bad management of public institutions can cost a nation and the citizenry... Fortunately, however, the institution has reformed itself over the past two years much to the admiration of its partners.

His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama has commended the Board and Management of the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) for re-positioning the Authority for effective implementation of its mandate. He was particularly impressed with the strong accountability and management systems; fundamental studies and Masterplans being conducted to facilitate transformational development.

Taha is a peri-urban community in the Sagnarigu District of the Northern Region of Ghana. The community has one Primary school and a Junior High School (JHS).

A multi stakeholder consultation is ongoing on the SADA Master Planning Exercise to review and validate proposed plans.
