The Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA), was established by Act 805, 2010 as a vehicle for transforming the Northern Savannah Ecological Zone (NSEZ) into a place of jobs and wealth. The major priorities of this part of Ghana are clearly out-lined in this Medium Term Development Plan (MTDP) for the period 2018-2021. The plan also aligns with the key policy objectives of the Government of H.E. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, including:
Matrix of the SADA MTIP 2017-2020
SAVANNAH ACCELERATED DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY-SADA Our Purpose: to catalyse comprehensive, integrated and accelerated development of the Nortern Savannah Ecological Zone (Act, 805, 2010) Vision: A transformed Northern Savannah Ecological Zone: Free of Poverty and full of Opportunities Our Misiion: To catalyse the transformation of the NSEZ
A Sustainable Development Initiative for the Northern Savannah Strategy and Work plan (2010 – 2030)
There is an increasing development gap between the Northern Savannah Ecological belt and the rest of the country. By all indications the North lags behind the South and the gap seems to be increasing. This gap is a critique of the status quo. At the same time, as a result of agricultural practices, the fragility of the soils and in increasing deforestation there is a tendency for weather changes to cause droughts and floods. With global warning, these events can be expected to occur more frequently. The political leadership and development analyst in Ghana agree that bridging this gap is as critical national issue.
